A Boise native, Lauren Folkner is excited to perform with her home symphony. Lauren earned her degrees from Utah State University (BM), and Boise State University (MM). She also frequently performs with Opera Idaho, McCall Summer Symphony, and Boise Baroque Orchestra. Past orchestras include the Idaho Falls Symphony and Principal 2nd violin for the Idaho State Civic Symphony.

A large part of Lauren’s life is spent educating future musicians. She taught orchestra in Idaho’s public school system for 9 years and has a private studio of violin students she loves dearly. In 2020 Lauren was the honorary clinician for Wyoming’s All-State music teacher conference. Prior to moving back to Boise, Lauren taught grades 6-12 strings in Bonneville School District, served as Gem State district president for IMEA, was a strings faculty member at Idaho State University’s Strings and Piano summer program.

When she’s not teaching or performing, Lauren enjoys biking, PC gaming, and spending time with her husband and two cats.
