Kyla Davidson

Currently a member of the Boise Philharmonic, Kyla Davidson began playing the cello at age 7 and has since studied with various teachers including Keiko Ying, a cello professor at Eastman School of Music, and Samuel Smith at the College of Idaho.

Kyla has competed and performed nationally and internationally during her career, both as a soloist and with various chamber ensembles and orchestras. Ms. Davidson represented the College of Idaho at the Juilliard String Quartet Seminar in 2008 and 2009, and is returning to her alma mater as adjunct cello faculty for the 2020-2021 term.  Kyla maintains a vibrant private studio, and has also mentored many young artists at the Sun Valley Summer Symphony Festival, the Tahoe Music Institute, and the College of Idaho Cello Festival.

In addition to performing with the Boise Phil, Ms. Davidson also founded and collaborates with the Pitches String Trio, the Boise Cello Collective, local Indy-psych band, Wend, The Regular Sounds, Ballet Idaho, 208 Ensemble, and subs with the Boise Baroque Chamber Orchestra, Opera Idaho, and the Walla Walla Symphony.  Kyla is also a regular with the Seattle Rock Orchestra, and performed with Disturbed and Josh Groban on their 2019 tours.

Kyla currently performs on a Tecchler cello from the year 1723, generously on loan from Mrs. Esther Simplot.
