Geoffrey Hill grew up in Portland, Oregon, where he began playing the violin at age 11. Inspired by the Oregon Symphony’s regular outstanding performances there, he decided by age 16 to pursue music as a professional career. In 2008, Geoffrey enrolled as a music student at the College of Idaho, where he studied privately for four years with the Boise Philharmonic’s Concertmaster, Geoffrey Trabichoff. In 2010, he won his first audition with the orchestra, and for two years served in the Philharmonic’s first violin section. In 2012, he graduated with Bachelor’s Degrees in both Music and History, and in the following months won the position of Principal Second Violin in the Boise Philharmonic – a title which he is thrilled and honored to hold. In addition to the Boise Philharmonic, Geoffrey performs regularly with the Boise Baroque Orchestra, the Opera Idaho orchestra, the Oregon East Symphony, the McCall Summerfest Orchestra, and Classical Revolution: Boise. When not performing or practicing, he enjoys hiking and biking, cooking, and history.
