Adam Snider

When his middle school band ran out of saxophones, Adam Snider decided to try the tuba instead. It’s worked out so far: he is now Principal Tuba of the Boise Philharmonic, Colorado Ballet, and Central City Opera Orchestras. Adam has previously held principal positions with the Honolulu, Lancaster Festival, and La Crosse Symphony Orchestras. He has also performed with the Utah, Colorado, Alabama, Santa Rosa, and Traverse Symphony Orchestras. Adam currently serves as instructor of tuba and euphonium at Metropolitan State University of Denver, having previously taught at Boise State University; University of Nevada, Reno; and University of Hawai`i-Mānoa. He maintains a robust private studio across Colorado, Utah, and Idaho.

Adam has performed and presented master classes across the U.S. as well as in China, Japan, and Chile. With his wife, hornist DeAunn Davis, he performs regularly as Brass Quest, “Your new favorite French horn + tuba Oldies Cover Band!” Interested in bringing to life the music of our time, Adam has founded and directed new music ensembles in Reno, NV, and Kalamazoo, MI, and has commissioned works from composers including Jeremy Hunter, Fernando Deddos, Ryan Hare, Miguel Chuaqui, Karen Olson, and Tim Chatwood.

Adam studied at The Boston Conservatory (BM Education, Performance), Western Michigan University (MM), DePaul University, and the University of Utah (DMA). His principal teachers include Gary Ofenloch, Floyd Cooley, Roger Rocco, Deanna Swoboda, Andrew Miller, Charles Villarrubia, and Eric Henry. When he’s not on stage or in the teaching studio, Adam enjoys hiking, road biking, cooking, exploring audio engineering, and studying the finer points of fermentation.
