Adam Snider is the Principal Tuba of the Boise Philharmonic and the Central City Opera Orchestra. He has previously held this position with the Honolulu, Lancaster Festival, and La Crosse Symphony Orchestras, and has also performed with the Utah, Alabama, Santa Rosa, and Traverse Symphony Orchestras. Adam has competed at the North American Brass Band Association Championships with the Chicago Brass Band and played across the Chicagoland area with the rock band Black Umbrella Brigade.
Adam has given master classes and recitals across the U.S. as well as in Chile, China, and Japan. He has served on faculty at Boise State University; the University of Nevada, Reno; and University of Hawai`i-Mānoa. Interested in exploring the music of our time, Adam founded new music ensembles at the University of Nevada, Reno and Western Michigan University. He has commissioned new music for tuba from composers Miguel Chuaqui, Brian Kelly, Rudolf Rojahn, Karen Olson, Tim Chatwood, and Lachlan Fife.
Adam has studied at The Boston Conservatory (BM Education, Performance), Western Michigan University (MM), DePaul University, and the University of Utah (DMA). His principal teachers include Gary Ofenloch, Floyd Cooley, Roger Rocco, Deanna Swoboda, Andrew Miller, Charles Villarrubia, and Eric Henry.
