Ryan Petriello

Ryan Petriello is a double bassist and teacher based in Boise, ID. Originally from Seattle, WA, he studied with Seattle Symphony Principal Bassist Jordan Anderson and performed with the Seattle Youth
Symphony Orchestra. He relocated to Ithaca, NY in 2015 to pursue a B.M. in Performance with a minor
in Jazz Studies at Ithaca College and studied with Dr. Nicholas Walker. He attended the Domaine
Forget Academy of Music and Dance in 2016, 2017, and 2018, where he studied with Scott Dixon,
Ètienne Lafrance, David Allen Moore, and Nicholas Walker and performed in masterclasses for John
Clayton, Jr., Paul Ellison, and François Rabbath. Upon graduating from Ithaca College in 2019, he
moved to New York City to study with Metropolitan Opera Orchestra Principal Bassist Rex Surany. In
November 2021 he joined the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra as a section bassist. In addition to the
Philharmonic, he performs frequently with the Opera Idaho orchestra. In his spare time he enjoys
listening to music and podcasts, reading, playing video games, and taking long walks around the Boise
River Greenbelt.
