Praised by the South Florida Review for her “rich tone and evocative playing,” Allison Emerick is the principal flutist of the Boise Philharmonic.
Ms. Emerick most recently appeared with the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra in Houston and the New World Symphony, playing under the baton of Michael Tilson Thomas, James Gaffigan, and Susanna Mälkki. She held the Piccolo Fellowship at the Aspen Music Festival and School from 2014-2015, where she worked with such musicians as Jeremy Denk, Manfred Honeck, Gil Shaham, Robert Spano, Leonard Slatkin, and Ludovic Morlot. As a winner of the 2012 National Flute Association Master Class Competition, she performed at the NFA Convention in Las Vegas.
Ms. Emerick is an advocate of music education and community outreach. She enjoys teaching students of all ages and experience levels and takes special joy in introducing music to young audiences. She held a flute instructor position with Tomball Independent School District in Houston. In her summers, Ms. Emerick has collaborated with Tunes and Tales, a program that brings children’s stories and improvised music to public library children’s programs in Basalt and Aspen, CO.
Ms. Emerick earned her Master of Music at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and Bachelor of Music at the University of Colorado at Boulder. She is wholly indebted to her teachers Jeanne Baxtresser, Christina Jennings, Alberto Almarza, and Jennifer Keeney.
