Northwest native Jessie Polin currently holds the position of piccolo and second flute with the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra where she has also played principal flute. Dividing her time between Seattle and Boise, Jessie also performs regularly with the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra and Seattle Modern Orchestra.

As an active soloist, Ms. Polin has made solo appearances with the University of Washington Symphony Orchestra, the Tacoma Young Artists Orchestra, the West Seattle Community Orchestra, and at the Lake Chelan Bach Festival. An ardent proponent of contemporary music, Ms. Polin was a guest artist on the Seattle Symphony’s [untitled] contemporary music series, in addition to her work with Seattle Modern Orchestra.

In addition to her performance career, Ms. Polin is a charismatic educator and maintains an active teaching schedule. She currently maintains a private studio in Seattle, and she has also taught on Bainbridge Island, Washington at the Rolling Bay Music Cooperative. Her students have held principal seats with the Tacoma Youth Symphony, competed at the State Solo and Ensemble Contest, and have participated in well known national music festivals such as Aria and the Oberlin Flute Academy.

Ms. Polin has given masterclasses and workshops at the University of Washington as well as for local private flute studios and public school instrumental music programs. Additionally, Ms. Polin holds a faculty position at the Evergreen Music Festival where she teaches applied flute lessons, chamber music, and music theory. She has also served as an adjudicator for the Seattle Flute Society’s competitions.

Ms. Polin holds a Bachelor of Music from Arizona State University and a Master of Music from the University of Washington. Her teachers include Dr. Elizabeth Buck, Donna Shin, Dr. Zart Dombourian-Eby, and Karla Flygare.

When she is not playing the flute, Ms. Polin enjoys cooking, reading, listening to non-classical music, and spending time with her dog, Sophie. She is also an avid hiker, backpacker, and outdoor photographer, and spends as much time as possible exploring all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
