Jim Jirak

The Chorale is led by Dr. James Jirak, who has served as the Artistic Director and conductor of the BPMC since 1996. Jirak holds a Doctor of Arts degree in Choral Conducting with a secondary emphasis in Jazz Pedagogy from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Wyoming in Laramie, and Bachelor of Music Education degree from Colorado State University in Ft. Collins. Dr. Jirak joined the music faculty at Boise State University in 1994, and he directs the Boise State University Vocal Jazz Ensemble, teaches choral conducting and choral methods and coordinates and supervises student teaching experiences. He is the festival coordinator for the annual Vocal Jazz Festival held each February.
