The Romantics

Enjoy this collection of masterful works for string trio and quartet.  In this performance, Haydn, Rachmaninoff, and Reger's works, originally composed for other combinations of instruments, are performed by a string trio.  A posthumous demand for Mendelssohn’s chamber works prompted the publisher Breitkopf and Härtel to create a string quartet by combining music that Mendelssohn had composed earlier. The result is his famous Four Pieces for String Quartet, op. 81.
