The Boise Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (BPYO)

Sponsored by Albertsons and the University of Idaho

The Boise Philharmonic Youth Orchestra is the Treasure Valley's premier performing youth symphonic group. The BPYO performs three concerts per year consisting of selections from the standard symphonic repertoire, allowing students to obtain the full orchestral experience. Members of the BPYO are regularly coached on their repertoire by Boise Philharmonic musicians through the year, exposing them to a professional musical environment. Students are admitted into the group by audition. 


Children’s Concerts (12,000 students attend FREE)

Children’s Concerts are fun and educational full-orchestra concerts presented to 3rd - 5th graders in Southwestern Idaho. The full Boise Philharmonic Orchestra connects musical ideas to subjects in the central curriculum. This program is presented free of charge to over 12,000 students per year and are offered to public and private school systems as well as home-schooled students.


Musicians in the Classroom

Individual professional Boise Philharmonic musicians visit over 275 second-grade classrooms throughout the Boise, Nampa and Meridian school districts each year. Second graders all over the valley meet a real professional musician and learn up-close about their instrument, sound, and music. The program curriculum closely ties the elements of music with that of reading and storytelling, encouraging active listening, imagination, making connections, and predictive skill.

Our Music Director visits high school music programs all over the valley to work with bands, choirs, and orchestras on their own repertoire at their own pace. This individualized attention strengthens group tone production, musical intent, and ensemble skills and brings a fresh perspective on how to bring your group to the next level. This program is offered free of charge to all high school programs


Verde Percussion Group

Sponsored by the John William Jackson Fund

The Verde Percussion Group is comprised of the percussion section of the Boise Philharmonic. The group performs 6 concerts per year offered free of charge to all elementary students through their schools. The members of the group have an extensive background in education and playing experience. Verde Percussion concert programs focus on exploring rhythm, colors, and timbres of the percussion section through fun and interactive music. 


Guest Artist Masterclasses

The Boise Philharmonic is proud to offer masterclasses with our world-class guest soloists at the surrounding higher-education institutions. These masterclasses are offered free of charge and allow for college students pursuing a degree in music performance to play for and receive feedback from illustrious solo performers. 


Senior Series

The Boise Philharmonic Brass Quintet, Woodwind Quintet, and String Quartet visit various assisted-living communities, free-meal sites, and veteran's homes to make music and entertainment more accessible to the senior members of our community.
