The Virtuoso Orchestra: Boise

April 27, 2019, 7:30 pm

Join us Friday in Nampa or Saturday in Boise for an evening of old and new!

Chairman Dances, one of the best-known works by the leading American composer John Adams, opens this tour de force program. Culled from his opera Nixon in China, Adams subtitled this exciting piece a Foxtrot for Orchestra. Sean Shepherd, hailed as "an exciting composer of the new American generation," was commissioned by the New York Philharmonic to write Songs in 2014. The Boise Phil is the second orchestra in the world to perform this work! Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra is a genuine athletic showpiece, turning our orchestra into soloist all-stars.
